For as long as I could remember I have struggled with my weight. I participated in sports all throughout my childhood, but I never really had an athletic body or healthy lifestyle. I had worked out a little bit as an adult, but it was never on a consistent basis and my poor eating habits always seemed to hold me back from becoming healthy and active.
Last November on a whim I bought a couple bottle of diet pills and started going to Planet Fitness everyday that next week. Then a friend of mine told me I should try one of the cycling classes at The Downtown Gym. I was a little hesitant because I had never really been to a class style workout before, but I knew it would help having an instructor tell me what to do as opposed to me not really knowing how to push myself on my own.
That first cycling class kicked my butt, but I decided to try it again and I slowly started to attend the other classes. I love the environment of The Downtown Gym and the instructors as well as the fellow gym-goers who are friendly and incredibly supportive. Now I'm going to at least 1 class a day.
I initially used my diet pills as motivation to start working out consistently because I didn't want them to go to waste, but since finishing off those I have found that my new motivation is the feeling of accomplishment I get every time I finish a class. I've lost a little over 20 lbs. since November and I can't wait to see how my body will continue to change (especially once I start making healthier food choices).
