Classes: Cycling, Rock Steady Boxing
I was asked to write about myself and this is not my favorite thing but here goes. I am a food addict that struggled with weight and body image for as far back as I can remember and have been on a weight gain/loss roller coaster for many years.
About eight years ago I was at my highest weight nearing 350 pounds. I was starting to have grandchildren and really wanted to be part of their lives for as long as I could. I started riding my bike to work which was 2.5 miles and I would have to stop halfway. No matter where you are at any weight you just need to start to move, even if it's only a 10 minute walk.
Biking and swimming were always my exercises of choice and
continue to be. From that point I started my weight loss journey again. I started by giving up soda and lost 50 pounds in 1 year. I became more aware of my food intake and continued biking and swimming. The weight was coming off and I felt amazing.
Life always happens and there are many excuses that you find not to exercise but it's a must! It's been a bumpy road for me and I still struggle. I am so thankful for my community of wonderful people at The Downtown Gym. I teach cycle classes and have a group of people who regularly attend my classes. The accept me at any weight and have stuck with me through "thick and thin".
